SEVENTEENTH SUNDAY AFTER PENTECOST                     SEPTEMBER 7, 2008

WELCOME  Visitors- we are happy that you’ve joined us for worship today and we extend to you a warm and heartfelt welcome!  If you haven’t received a welcoming folder, please pick one up from the table by the organ.  May the Lord bless your worship with us.  We also ask our visitors to please read & complete the yellow tri-fold located in the hymnal rack and sign the Guest Book.  Thank you!

PREPARATION  As you wait for the worship service to begin, instead of visiting with someone in a pew near you, you may want to prepare yourself for worship by reading a section of Scripture and/or by saying a prayer.  The following prayer is one suggestion...

Good and gracious God, you have compassion for the sinner, as a father has compassion for his children.  Forgive the sins of your people, heal our weaknesses, and crown our lives with your love, that with all the saints and angels we may glorify you, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, now and forever.” Additional prayers can be located on pages 10 & 11 and 134-139 in the front part of the hymnal.

SIGN-UPS  There are still open dates to sponsor flowers on the altar and host Sunday Fellowship Hour.  The sign-up sheets are located on the Narthex bulletin board.

LARGE PRINT  The office secretary is still making up 3 Large Print Worship Folders (which includes bulletin, liturgy, and hymns) for the Sunday Worship Services.  If this is something that will assist you in worship, please pick up a folder (and then return when finished) from the table by the organ.

SCRIP  Haven’t purchased Scrip/Gift Certificates yet?  They can be used just like cash - with a percentage of the sales benefiting Arizona Lutheran Academy.  Someone will be at

the small table in the Narthex to assist you.

BUSINESS CARDS  If you’re looking for someone to perform some general labor or yard work, pick up a business card from the Narthex bulletin board.

THRIFT SHOP  Another innovative way to support Arizona Lutheran Academy is by setting aside unused clothing and/or house-hold items for the ALA Thrift Shop.  Classroom #1 has been set up as a collection center and is ready to receive these items (put your items inside the white lines).  Someone, in turn, will deliver them to the ALA Thrift Shop.  Not only will your donation help the less fortunate, you’ll also earn a rebate!
